He was due to go on trial today accused of assaulting two revellers and two police officers on a night out.
Ranger, 21, is accused of assault and actual bodily harm following an incident after a night out in Newcastle last August.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place in Newcastle city centre on August 27 last year.
The striker, who lives in Forest Hall, North Tyneside, and has played on loan for Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley and in Crystal Palace and Southampton's youth teams, denies the charges.
Barristers have requested more time to review CCTV footage taken on the night of the alleged attacks.
