Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Lille about the possibility of signing Sven Botman this summer after talks with AC Milan stalled, 90min understands.
Milan had been hopeful of confirming the arrival of Botman imminently, but the Rossoneri are struggling to agree terms with Lille over a fee.
And 90min understands that PSG could be ready to pounce. Luis Campos, the Parisians' director of football who strengthened his reputation with a fruitful spell at Lille between 2017 and 2020, is a big fan of Botman and had already sounded out Lille over a possible move.
Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea have also enquired about the defender in recent times, though it remains to be seen whether they will intensify this interest.
Newcastle United - who tried to sign Botman in January - are definitely still in the race though, and club sources have indicated that they feel 'well-placed' to convince the defender to sign.
Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth. This week Harry Symeou steps in for Scott and the trio discuss the futures of Bukayo Saka, Rafael Leao, Romelu Lukaku, Kalvin Phillips, Youri Tielemans, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus and more.
90min understands that Botman's preference is still to join Milan and the Serie A champions had been hoping to sow things up before the end of the week before negotiations slowed.
The Rossoneri should not experience any such problems in their long-term pursuit of Renato Sanches, though. Lille have long been confident of securing Sanches, who is being brought in as a replacement for Barcelona-bound Franck Kessie.
