He was boss of Peterborough when Newcastle Reserves crashed out of the Carling Cup earlier in the season. A result that has many of the Newcastle players smarting at the way Ferguson rubbed salt into the wound after the game.
Darren Ferguson: "The league being the way it is you don't want to get sucked into a battle and if you look up the way you're about a point off 10th and if you look down the way you're only six points off the bottom (three), so that's one thing you don't want to get sucked into.
"But we've got to get the results and quickly, there's no doubt about that.
"We've got to get as many wins as we can as quickly as we can, but we know what Saturday is going to bring.
"It's going to bring a very difficult game but we've got to go up there and try and impose ourselves on them."
