Newcastle have made thoughts of relegation a thing of the past and Pompey have qualified for Europe after Cardiff City won through to the FA Cup final.

David Jones' Bluebirds beat Barnsley 1-0 at Wembley, and under FA rules, Cardiff are considered a Welsh club with full membership of the Football Association of Wales (FAW).

They are, therefore, currently not allowed to represent the FA in Europe - which means even if Pompey are beaten in the final, they will still qualify for the UEFA Cup spot.

However, Cardiff are likely to challenge this position, with UEFA boss Michel Platini having alreay pledged to help the club with their bid.

The situation is likely to come under review now Cardiff will play Pompey in the Cup final.
