The Football Association have put the issue in the hands of the police, but say this will ban supporters from ALL grounds ... if they are found guilty of causing trouble.

Northumbria Police made 29 arrests and are studying CCTV footage to identify troublemakers.

Chief Superintendent Neil Mackay, head of the force's operations unit, is appealing for supporters to help them trace the yobs.

Mackay: "I would appeal to the public to identify those people responsible for throwing fireworks.

"It's difficult to comprehend the mentality of this. It is only through good fortune that the rider, his horse and those nearby did not suffer serious injury."

Adrian Bevington, director of communications at the FA: "The key issue here is to work with the clubs and the police to ensure that all of those involved in Saturday's disorder are identified and put through the courts."
