Pardew Defends Signings!

Alan Pardew: “I believe in these players. I believe in this team and the staff I have around me to turn it around.

“This is a team that is quite young. It hasn’t got the experience, certainly not the experience of the side that got relegated three or four years ago before my time.

“So we need to not ignore that (the media) and learn from those lessons.”

Carragher and Sky colleague Gary Neville have been critical of Pardew’s team this season.

But other TV pundits - like Robbie Savage - have been singled out by Pardew, a manager who is desperate to protect his players.

Carragher had said: “He’s brought players in, we’ve mentioned Southampton who have brought in players and they’ve hit the ground running. They (Newcastle players) haven’t.

“At the moment they aren’t looking quite up to playing in the Premier League.

“How long do you give them? When you have been on a bad run the previous season you have to hit the ground running.

“But they haven’t. Alan Pardew knows that.”
