Owen Should Get His Priorities Right - Newcastle first!

Ever since the striker walked through the door at St James' Park we have had problems with Michael and his "England career", and personally I think he should have other priorities.

We are three points from the drop; Owen put in another 'none event' performance at Anfield on Saturday just as he did the last time he played there in Newcastle colours; and he is concerned about playing for England.

For a player who has been at the club for close on THREE years, the jury is still out on him.

I am not suggesting he has had the best of service from his team-mates, but I'm prepared to say there would not be many fans crying in their beer if someone slapped in an offer for him in the summer and it was accepted.

Rafel Benitez said at the weekend Owen was one of ten strikers he was looking at last summer, but said his injury problems ruled him out, suggesting the player had lost a lot of his pace.

Owen: "When you are down it's hard to be listened to.

"Results are not going well and, when you are not playing well as a team and individually, then individuals will not get picked for the national team."
