Michael Owen: "We've got plenty of strikers. We have Viduka, Smith, Martins, Carroll, Shola and myself. There are six players for two positions.

"We've still had terrible luck with Viduka being injured and Martins with his ankle problem.

"Smithy has had to play in other positions too, and I've had injury problems.

"As much as we've got a lot, it's not often we've had everybody fit."

We have the numbers, but with Mark Viduka failing to impress KK with his continued injury problems, Shola Ameobi well out of form, and Andy Carroll yet to break into the team, that suddenly leaves us with three.

Owen and Oba Martins are class, no doubt, but Alan Smith has only scored two goals in three years. Keegan will be looking for better options next season ... and Viduka and Ameobi look certain to be on their way.
