Optimism as Toon 'Makeweight' to see Specialist - Fit Dyer Invaluable Transfer Asset

Two years ago and news that Kieron Dyer was to see a specialist in a bid to resolve his hamstring troubles would have been met with renewed optimism. He was an integral part of the team and without him we looked less dangerous.

That was two years ago. Today’s news has merely evoked a feeling of optimism that Dyer may at last be fit enough to sell.

Without him our midfield has looked more resilient and creative. Jermaine Jenas at last to appears to have rid himself of Dyer’s influence. Surely the eventual sale of the ex-Ipswich man would see Jenas turn to more suitable role models for guidance – he need look no further than Nicky Butt.

Dyer has fallen out of favour with the Toon Army. His ‘run all day’ approach doesn’t wash anymore and his continued failure to deliver any end product has resulted in calls for his departure. The realisation amongst the Geordie faithful that he cannot pass, tackle, head, shoot or cross has fortunately not spread south of the Tyne. To hear Dyer described on Sky Sports by a so called expert as, ‘when fully fit a definite England starter’, is extremely heartening. As for that matter is his continued inclusion by Sven Goran Eriksson in the national squad.

A fully fit Kieron is excellent news as his value as a makeweight in the purchase of a top class central defender cannot be underestimated.

Souness must sell Dyer before this consensus disintegrates and he is exposed as the arrogant waster that he has ultimately become.
