... the missed out on Manchester City.

The battle to take control of Manchester City is beginning to gather pace.
In a statement to the Stock Exchange, the club confirmed that "it remained in preliminary discussions with external parties".
It is understood four groups of investors are competing against each other, including one from the USA.
Are we about to be left behind, as all the top clubs see it as the only way to "keep up with the Jones's"? There has been interest but chairman Freddy Shepherd insists on hanging onto his "nice little earner", despite his partner Sir John Hall suggesting he would happily sell his shares and let the money men invest in the club.
