There is a concern Hughton could try and prove himself right, in a league that takes no prisoners.
Chris Hughton: “I was delighted with the lads that came in back in January.
“They all added something to the squad.
“Probably Leon Best, from that group, hasn’t played as much as the others.
“It was probably a little bit more difficult for him because the two players in front of him Andy Carroll and Peter Lovenkrands were in very good form.
“They played a lot of games, and scored a lot of goals.
“It was a difficult one for him and Leon was probably a little bit unfortunate.
“It was hard for him to get into a real rhythm.
“He’s 23 years of age, and an Irish international.
“That’s where he is, and that hasn’t changed.
“We’ve got a really tough season in a tough league ahead of us, and I hope we can be successful with anyone we bring in.
“But it’s a little bit easier bringing people into a team which is winning games.”
