Now The Toon Are 'Skint' Perhaps We Can Forget Gudjohnsen

The Barcelona striker was at one time a target of Sam Allardyce and the Toon directors even travelled to Spain to supposedly tie up a deal.

But, knowing the Toon directors the way I do, it was probably a "Jolly Boy's Outing" with expenses tabbed to NUFC and "a good time was had by all".

So what is Eidur doing these days?

The ex-Chelsea striker told reporters on Saturday that he wishes to stay at Barcelona and challenge for a place in their star-studded team.

Eidur Gudjohnsen: "My first priority is to stay and so far I am not thinking about anything else.

"I remember when I was at Chelsea and manager Claudio Ranieri said that as he had Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Adrian Mutu and Hernan Crespo, I was going to be the fourth striker.

"I accepted that and in the end I ended up playing many games. I know that you always get chances and I am not going to give up."
