His 18 month trek for Brazilian central defender Douglas has ended, because the FC Twente player is set to sign for Italian gianst Inter Milan.
Pardew wanted the deal sorted LAST summer, but Mike Ashley pulled the plug at the last hour of the transfer window.
This time around, Ashley agreed to the deal ... but Joe Kinnear was drafted in and went against the move ... saying 'Wally With The Brolly' Steve McClaren told him he didn't rate the defender.
He is free, on a Bosman, and Inter have jumped the gun to take him to the San Siro.
