Nobby has had a troubled history playing for Peru. Once he was played at right-back, Peru lost, and Nobby was not only stripped of the captaincy but banished from the team. He returned to the side months later thanks mainly to public support, but the 31-year-old winger turned his back on his country earlier this year after falling out with coach Freddy Ternero.
But, having just returned to Tyneside, he has told the United boss he wants to return to international duty.
Solano told the Sunday Sun: "There is nothing in my Newcastle contract on the subject of playing for Peru. I will be the one to decide if or when I return. Nobody can deny me that right."
Sir Bobby tried, but as Nobby says, he has the backing og FIFA and every player has the right to play for his country.
