Newcastle United Eye Move for Bournemouth's Callum Wilson

Newcastle United will reportedly attempt to lure Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to St. James' Park if the Cherries suffer relegation from the Premier League this season.

Wilson is Bournemouth's top goal scorer this campaign with eight in the top flight, but Eddie Howe's side go into the final day of the season sitting 19th in the table, three points adrift of Aston Villa and Watford.

Wilson scored in Bournemouth's last game before lockdown, the opener in a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool

Bournemouth - at the time, a Championship side - bought Wilson from Coventry City for less than £4m in 2014 and the future England international's 20 league goals fired them to promotion in his debut campaign. Yet, if their five year stint in the Premier League comes to an end, Wilson may be just one star name out of the door.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is thought to be the keen on securing Wilson's services in the upcoming window according to The Express. The 28-year-old forward only signed a contract extension at the start of the season - seeing his current deal expire in 2023 and so a fee in the region of £20m has been touted.

The report also flagged up Bournemouth's 23-year-old winger Arnaut Danjuma as a target for Italian clubs Fiorentina and Torino while fellow forward Joshua King has consistently been linked with a move back to Manchester United.

Nathan Aké has been linked with a £35m move to Manchester City in recent weeks

Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Aké has also attracted interest from Premier League rivals as Manchester City close in on signing the Dutchman.

In 125 Premier League appearances Wilson has scored 41 goals and registered 12 assists. However, alongside that respectable scoring record, Wilson sustained two severe cruciate ligament injuries in back-to-back seasons between 2015 and 2017.

The Cherries travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Sunday in a match which not only decides their Premier League status, but potentially the future of their star striker, among others.
