Newcastle, Sheffield United & West Brom in for Cut-Price Wigan Star Antonee Robinson

Sheffield United lead a host of Premier League clubs in a transfer chase for Wigan full-back Antonee Robinson.

The English-born US international has impressed at the DW Stadium following his move, initially on-loan, from Everton two years ago but is set to move on following Wigan's relegation to League One. The Latics face the drop following a 12-point deduction for entering into administration, with star players set to leave in cut-price deals.

A one-time target of AC Milan, Robinson's £1.9m release clause is attracting a lot of top-flight attention with the likes of West Brom and Newcastle joining the Blades in pursuit of the 23-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

The impressive form of Enda Stevens at Bramall Lane, however, combined with Danny Rose's return to Tottenham and Kieran Gibbs' uncertain future at the Hawthorns means the Wigan man may have a better chance of first-team football should he turn down Chris Wilder's approach.

In January, Robinson was set to join Italian giants AC Milan in an audacious £10m move only for a failed medical to scupper his chances of playing in Serie A.

An apparent heart issue left him facing a spell on the sidelines but a planned cardiac ablation was deemed unnecessary and he made his return to football in June.

The young full back has one goal and one assist in a difficult 2019/20 season for Wigan.

Wigan's financial woes have already seen highly rated manager Paul Cook depart along with centre-back Leon Balogun who joined Steven Gerrard's Rangers in their pursuit of silverware and youngsters Alfie Devine and Jensen Weir joined Tottenham and Brighton respectively.

The summer could be a long and challenging one for the Lancashire side who won the FA Cup as recently as 2013.
