Newcastle loanee Kenedy has spoken about his fondness for the Magpies and St. James' Park in a recent interview with the Chronicle.
The Brazilian joined the Magpies in January last year from his parent club Chelsea and impressed enough to earn himself a second loan spell on Tyneside this summer.
However, since his return to the club, Kenedy has endured a rough start to the season. He played poorly as Newcastle struggled initially - the team picked up only three points in their opening ten fixtures.
But back to back Premier League wins have lifted spirits on Tyneside and Kenedy's confidence has returned - it was his brilliant cross which set Salomon Rondon up for the winning goal against Bournemouth in their last fixture.
He spoke of the importance of his new home ground in that most recent league win, saying (via the Chronicle):
“St. James’ Park is a spiritual venue. That is so important for a player to feel that connection with the supporters. It makes you want to play at St. James’ more and more and more. It really makes me feel good. The fans are so important to us and they give us energy.”
He also stated his joy at Newcastle finally finding some form in recent weeks: “I am very happy that we’re back to winning ways. Both the Watford and Bournemouth games were an improvement and we showed more of what we had last season.
"It was important to turn that corner. To do it in front of our own fans at home was such a good feeling. We all went into the international break feeling satisfied.”
Kennedy had struggled to recapture the fine form he had produced for the Magpies last season - a missed penalty in a poor performance against Cardiff in August seemed to some things up for the 22-year-old. But he has begun to contribute positively in recent weeks once more.
The Brazilian spoke of his desire to find his best form on a more regular basis, saying: "To provide an assist like that is very important to me. I want to do it a lot more. I am here to help the team with crosses and assists.
"But I know my job is to work hard. The Premier League is a very fast league and I know I will be required to contribute to the offensive and defensive side of the game. I will be back and forth.”
Next up, Newcastle face Burnley in the league. Kennedy seemed to look towards the game with a fair amount of optimism.
“Two wins back to back at home is not always easy in the Premier League but we have done it and confidence in the group is high.” He said. “There is a great spirit in the group and we go into the Burnley game on a high.”
