Sam Allardyce: "He reads the game very well. He's very comfortable on the ball, and very strong.
"I would have thought at that level be would be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle United - he'll go into the team, and stay in the team.
"Once he gets in, he'll challenge people for their place. He did well in pre-season, and played quite a few games.
"He will obviously need a couple of games to sharpen himself up, but he's as fit as a fiddle."
