Moore Set For Return To Australia

The injury-plagued Australian's latest comeback came to a familiar end at the weekend, as he hobbled off with a groin injury a 17 minutes from the end of United's 1-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Although he said back in December he hoped for a one-year deal in the summer before returning to Oz next year, but it seems he can forget about putting pen to paper.

The 31-year-old will be spending the next `few weeks' in the club's treatment room. It will be a familiar spot for a player who has started just 23 league games following his arrival from Borussia Mönchengladbach two years ago.

Moore: "I would have wanted to stay but if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be. I've loved it at Newcastle. If I could have changed anything, it would have been that I would have played more football but, unfortunately, I've been injured a lot."

Roeder has insisted his first-team squad are playing for their futures and although he will not go into specifics, he has hinted that the changes could be widespread. That is ... IF he is still manager in the summer. The spotlight is indeed on him as well as his players, and although Shepherd has promised money to spend in the summer, the chairman wants guarantees that Roeder is the right man to spend it.

Roeder: "We do need to change things around, there's no doubt about that and I think everyone agrees with that.

"I think the players here - if they are honest - feel there needs to be changes in the squad this summer too."
