Kevin Keegan's misery deepened on the ground where he became a legend under Bill Shankly, but fans are starting to ask questions about his team selection.

Martins was on the bench as we suffered another humiliating defeat, and it was so hard to pick ANY positives out of the 90 minutes.

The one piece of Toon magic was that super drive from substitute Martins that rattled the Liverpool bar, bringing back memories of an identical strike from Brazilian Mirandinha back in 1989.

To jog your brain cells - we were second bottom of the league and Frank Pingel made his debut and scored when a shot bounced off the back of his head. Yes ... he was THAT good.

We were drawing 2-2 with minutes to go and the Brazilian produced the magic that should have won us the game. Just like Martins, quick control, a turn and blistering shot that had the Liverpool goalkeeper beaten all ends up ... only to see the ball bounce off the bar.

But that's Newcastle for yer!
