Yes - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was let off the hook as the Gooner Boo-Boys were waiting for the final whistle to let the Frenchman know what they thought.

He's been at the club since October 1996, and he has never faced as much pressure as he faces from now until the end of the season.

No League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League or Premiership ... he's in the same boat as the rest of us ... scrapping for a European place.

But QUALIFYING for a competition is NOT success at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger: "It was a game of absolute commitment on both sides, you have to give credit to Newcastle as well.

"It needed something special to beat them tonight.

"And what beat them tonight was our relentless effort just to win the game, and we just did not stop, and in the end we won it.

"I said to my assistant in the final minute: 'One more attack and we will score', so much was my belief.

"Walcott was outstanding from the first to the last minute.

"It's one of the best, best games I've seen of Theo because I felt tonight he had absolutely everything in his game - combined well, crossed well, was always in the game.

"He's making good progress; he's an intelligent boy. People forget he is very young - 23 years old."
