The goalkeeper has a minor injury, and Rob Elliot has been put on standby for the Premier League game.
Krul – who dislocated his shoulder late last season – wasn’t available for selection at Morecambe on Wednesday night, and he was set for a late fitness test ahead of this afternoon’s game at St James’s Park.
Alan Pardew: “We will see how he goes.
“The other fella (Elliot) has been terrific.
“He’s come in under the radar. We brought him for a few hundred grand, which was nothing really.
“Everybody thought he was worth that for a reason, but he’s a much better player than that."
