Inter Set to Offer Valentino Lazaro as Part of Timo Werner Transfer Bid

Italian giants Inter are reportedly willing to include Newcastle loanee Valentino Lazaro as part of a bid for RB Leipzig hotshot Timo Werner.

Despite continuous rumours linking the German forward with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool, the Reds are certainly not the only side interested.

Although the summer transfer window is set to be greatly impacted by the economic toll of coronavirus, Werner may well be the bargain of the summer for whoever is able to snap him up.

The Germany international has a much publicised £52m release clause, yet this figure could even reduce to £44m if Die Roten Bullen are unable to win the Bundesliga title - something they seem unlikely to achieve.

Inter could, however, be set to lower the asking price even further with the use of Lazaro as a makeweight, as has been reported by Tuttosport (via Sportsmole).

The Serie A side are likely to be looking for a replacement for their star forward Lautaro Martinez, who remains a public target of Catalan giants Barcelona, as the search for Luis Suarez's successor continues.

With the La Liga leaders having already reportedly agreed a deal in principle for Martinez, Antonio Conte will be looking to quickly replace him.

As for Lazaro, his brief loan spell at Newcastle United has been interrupting by the ongoing pandemic, and it remains to be seen whether he will sign permanently for the Magpies in the summer.

The Austrian right-sided player had reportedly received interest from Leipzig during the January transfer window, before he sealed his move to Steve Bruce's side at St James' Park.

With clubs set to be reluctant to spend in the coming window, it may be that these types of player-plus-cash deals become the norm.

As for Werner, it is unclear at present where he will line up next season, although it is unlikely to be for Leipzig.
