Mike Ashley insists that the handful of players from St James' Park who arrived on-loan on deadline day will stay for the remainder of the season regardless of whether he stays at the club or not.
Regardless of any potential political difficulties, the truth is that Rangers could probably do with some input from all five if they are to return to the Premiership via the play-offs this summer.
Haris Vuckic, the Slovenian who has essentially been the only one of the group fit enough so far to make a serious contribution, feels the rest of the Newcastle pals will prove an asset to the club before the end of the season.
"They are very good players, they are all very talented," said Vuckic.
"Shane Ferguson texts me after the games, 'how was it, how did we play'? Biggie [Gael Bigirmana] hasn't played but he watched the games. Kevin is here and didn't play yet but is looking forward to playing so hopefully he is going to be available. Remie [Streete] and Biggie are training, too, so hopefully they are all ready soon, they are all working on fitness. Soon, I think by the end of the month, they will all be available.
"We are all still young but already we are above that Under-21 level where we have to play first team football," he added. "At Newcastle we weren't getting that chance but here I think we can get this but of course you have to prove yourself in training.
"I know English football is tough as well but when I came to Scotland as soon as I got my first touch of the ball somebody smashed me and I thought 'oof, it's going to be hard," he said. "But I am a big lad and I can cope with that. Even if somebody wants to tackle, I have to protect myself. Not in a bad way, going out every time to smash him, but just to protect myself.
"I am getting used to it and it's all good at the moment. First game, second game, even fitness-wise, was a bit hard for me because I didn't play a lot at Newcastle. But the more games come, the more I am going to step up my game.
"I think Rangers and Newcastle are quite similar," he said. "But history wise, trophy wise, Rangers is bigger. When you come past the trophy room you see how successful Rangers was and hopefully it is going to be like that again soon. I have an opportunity to play well, and if I do well my options are going to be open. You never know what football brings you."
