If Owen Joins City He Will Be The Most 'Hated' Man On Tyneside!

If you believe the tabloids, Eriksson reportedly wants to take Owen to Manchester City in the January transfer window.

"The Newcastle striker is said to be unsettled at St James' Park after reported disagreements with manager Sam Allardyce over his fitness.

"And The Sun claims Eriksson will urge City's board to swoop for the England striker in January, even though he could cost as much as £15million.

"If Owen does leave, Allardyce will reportedly move for Nicolas Anelka, who played under him at Bolton."

Owen is a brilliant player, but the way he prolonged his answer for weeks that he was set to stay at Newcastle ... only when no offer was put on the table ... did not do his reputation with the Toon Army any good at all.

He said he didn't give an answer because "I was away on England duty and I had two weddings to go to".

He WAS on international duty, but Big Sam followed him to Turf Moor (v Albania) and to Wembley (v Brazil) to ask him about his future, and both times Owen sat on the fence.

It never came out in newspaper reports, but I can tell you honestly, Sam was furious! And I don't think the pair have healed that rift since.

If Owen DOES walk away in January, he will make 50,000 die-hard Toon fans very very angry for the way he has taken his £103,000 weekly wages and given so little inb return.

Alan Shearer said in the summer: "Owen owes Newcastle big style!"
