How Can Wenger's Words Make Taylor Tackle 'Worse'?

I think we all saw on TV what happened to Arsenal's Eduardo da Silva and I'm sure every true football fan will wish his a speedy recovery.

Alan Smith broke a leg and dislocated an ankle in February 2006 at Anfield while playing for Manchester United in the FA Cup, but bounced back and was playing again just seven months later.

And he hopes Eduardo can do the same.

Smith: "I can understand what Eduardo's going through.

"Hopefully they can get him back playing football again in the near future.

Meanwhile Martin Taylor believes Arsene Wenger's reaction to his tackle on the Arsenal player contributed to the volume and nature of the criticism he has received.

The Birmingham defender broke the Arsenal striker's leg in a horror tackle and rightly received a red card.

In the aftermath of the match Arsenal boss Wenger called for Taylor to be banned for life, although he later retracted the comments.

Taylor: "Wenger's words have affected the way people react to it. Arsene Wenger is one of the most highly-regarded managers in the game and people listen to what he says.

"They look at it in a different light because someone who is so learned has said something like that.

"The injury was terrible enough. When he gets back to fitness and he puts the ball in the net for Arsenal for the first time, we will all feel much better."
