Have We Seen The Last Of Mort?

He returns to his role at international law firm Freshfields, and I'm sure he will be a wiser man for his Geordie experience.

We still haven't been told officially if he "jumped or was pushed", and we received some stick from NUFC for giving our own views on why he is leaving.

However, he has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the board at some point in the future.

We were first with the news of Mort's departure, as it leaked out from our St James' Park "insider", and we also named the new man as chairman - Derek Llambias - something else which didn't sit well with NUFC.

NUFC allegedly (we have to be careful here 'cos the lawmen are after our arses) claimed that Mort was always due to vacate his role as Magpies chairman after a year.

But The Journal reports that was not the case.

So we are not the only media source suggesting ... errrr ... something has happened for Mort to return to his old job.

Read into that what you will.

This is not like the old board of directors who couldn't give a knack what we we thought about them at it was "publish and be damned" ... these boys can be touchy.
