Forster was on loan at the Glasgow club last season but Alan Pardew said his goalkeeper would get better experience playing in the lower leagues in England because the Scottish League was so "poor".
The last time a club won the title - other than Rangers and Celtic - was just before the Battle of Falkirk (the one when William Wallace ran away from the English troops).
But Forster has had a poor pre-season, and Pardew is happy to sell him to the Chilly Jockos ... when they can scrape together the £2m asking price.
Sadly Celtic are a pale shadow of the club they were - financially.
Allegedly they bought the floodlight bulbs that Rangers were replacing at Ibrox ... which obviously caused great delight amongs the Gers supporters.

"There are a few little snags to overcome but we hope to have him registered in time for Thursday night.
"If that is the eventuality of things, we would be absolutely delighted. He has been the main target since the end of last season.
"We did put a bid in but it was knocked back but we worked hard in the background to try to bring him in so I'm very, very pleased."
