The 25-year-old has just started the last season of his current three-year deal at Parkhead but would love to extend his contract.
Caldwell: "If I was to stay at Celtic all of my professional life, I would think that was great.
"The situation is out of my control and it's up to other people to decide, but I don't want to be anywhere else.
"I'm with a club that is huge in European and even world terms. I love working with the manager and I'd like to think we can have more of the success the club has enjoyed the last two years."
Although he never made a first team appearance for Newcastle, his brother Steven played 30 times for the club ... and they never realised their dream of playing together for the club.
