And Gazza fears Newcastle United could lose some of their star names to Europe’s heavyweights this summer.

He should know ... cos the Mars Bar Kid was flogged to Tottenham Hotspur back in 1988.

He put down his bag of KFC, his fishing rod and six-pack of lager and spoke to the Journal.

Paul Gascoigne: “What great signings Demba Ba and Cisse have been. They’ve been fantastic. Cisse’s goal against Chelsea was a bit special.

“It was a great finish, and hopefully it’ll continue for him.

"The only problem is that teams like Newcastle have is that when you get a great player, it’s can you keep hold of them?

"There’s always someone willing to come in for them. It’ll be the same with them.

“They could get into the Champions League, and I hope it happens.

“It’s a tough task. Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are all fighting for those spots.

“If I was a player, all I’d be thinking about is the 90 minutes.

“All you can do is try your best and give everything.

“Hopefully, you’ll come away with something.

“The team’s done really, really well, and Alan Pardew deserves massive credit.

“Look what he’s achieved. If you like the manager, you’ll perform for him.

“There’s no use playing for a team for a team if you don’t like the manager.

“It just shows you the players like Alan Pardew. He’s done an amazing job, but he has Sir Bobby to live up to.

"Sir Bobby Robson was just a fantastic manager and a great bloke to be with. He was a caring guy.

"He got me settled into the set-up very quickly, and he was probably one of the reasons I loved the World Cup.

“He was great to me. When I first met him I was playing for England’s Under-19s.

“He came in the dressing room and said ‘I hope you’re keeping off the Mars Bars fat man’. There isn’t a bad word you could say about him.”
