Ex-Toon Winger Looking For Quick Premiership Return!

Ambroke was signed from Ipswich Town after the transfer window was closed in 2003 (because the club went into administration) and he sat out the rest of the season kicking his heels.

Always showed promise but was never the finished article and Souness sold him to Charlton Athletic in July 2005 for £1.5m, after he made as many appearances as substitute (27) as he did starting (27).

The Charlton winger has targeted automatic promotion from the Coca-Cola Championship as the battle to catch Watford gathers pace.

With the table-topping Hornets suddenly struggling with just a single win in their last four games, the likes of the Addicks and West Brom, both currently five points off the pace, have been offered some encouragement.

And ahead of Charlton's clash with Sheffield United at The Valley on Tuesday night, Ambrose is determined to take full advantage.

Ambrose: "We are chasing Watford at the moment and fighting West Brom for second.

"We know that with the team we've got at the moment, with the players we have, we are ultimately looking to automatic promotion and at least the play-offs.

"But you cannot look too far ahead. We're taking every game as it comes and if we can continue our recent good form and get good results, we will definitely be there in the top two in May."
