While Patrick Kluivert is back in Holland set to put pen and paper to deal to join PSV Eindhoven.

Cole passed his medical last night after Pompey agreed to pay City a fee that will rise to £1million dependent on the 34-year-old's appearances for his new club. And he is believed to have been offered an even better deal than he has at Eastlands - a two-year contract on around £40,000 a week.

Cole scored an amazing 68 goals in 83 games for Newcastle before his move to Manchester United in 1995.

Kluivert came for the money, had a fall out with the manager (Graeme Souness) because he wanted to play alongside Craig Bellamy rather than Alan Shearer, and returned to Spain where he again had the club wishing they'd never signed him.

He spent most of last season in the same position he did at Barcelona and Newcastle ... on the treatment table ... picking up £80+ a week. Valencia, like the two clubs mentioned, cannot wait to get rid of him!
