Former Newcastle midfielder and now Bolton boss Gary Megson has splashed the cash this weekend, and told fans he has not finished spending yet after paying £10m on striker Johan Elmander.

Megson ended his long-running chase to land the Sweden international on Friday and then immediately turned his attention to other targets.

"We still have money to spend", said the former Geordie Ginger Ninja.

The fact remains, only Chelsea and Tottenham have spent big so far this summer, so Newcastle are keeping up the trend of buying when the market settles down.

Every club seems to be sniffing around without making a move, and although it is frustrating for Toon fans (as well as the supporters of other clubs), that seems to be the way these days.

Euro 2008 finishes tonight and the market is expected to kick into action this coming week, or when the players return from holiday
