Exclusive: Newcastle Keeping Tabs on Dutch Teenage Sensation Myron Boadu With View of Summer Move

The January transfer window may have finally closed, but that isn't stopping Premier League clubs from planning their summer business well in advance.

Chelsea have already lined up the arrival of Ajax star Hakim Ziyech, and plenty of other teams are already looking for shrewd moves in the transfer market to bolster their squads for the coming season.

And Newcastle United appear to be flexing their muscles ahead of a potentially busy summer period. 90min can exclusively reveal that the Magpies are keeping tabs on AZ Alkmaar starlet Myron Boadu, as the Dutch forward continues to impress in the Eredivisie.

Boadu is enjoying a breakthrough season for Alkmaar, and he has already notched 13 goals for the side sitting second in the table. The 19-year-old is the joint-third highest scorer in the division, and he currently boasts an impressive average of a goal every 136 minutes.

Pretty exciting stuff, then.

It's not only Newcastle that are showing an interest in Boadu however, as Arsenal have also looked into the availability of the youngster in the past. But the Magpies are prepared to fight off any competition for the talented teenage sensation, after their scouts were hugely impressed by the capabilities of the 19-year-old.

Newcastle are aware that they must add some firepower to their forward line in the summer, as Steve Bruce's side have struggled to score goals and create chances in the Premier League this season.

Record signing Joelinton has failed to adapt to life in the English top flight, and they have desperately missed the goals provided by last year's key striker Salomon Rondon. Given their need for a cutting edge in front of goal, Boadu sits high on Bruce's wish list for the summer.

The striker has shown a real clinical edge for Alkmaar this season, and his goals have lifted them to within six points of league leaders Ajax.
