... former Newcastle defender David Edgar admits he is ‘excited’ to be reunited with Lee Clark at Birmingham City.

Burnley were promoted last season, but Edgar is not seen as a key player in the Premier League ... something that must spur him to show he can make it at the highest level.

David Edgar: “When the manager came back to Newcastle he was playing in the first team and was a good role model for young players.

“He got the reserve team job and he gave me the armband, I played for him there, and although I wouldn’t exactly say he took me under his wing, we had a good relationship.

“I really enjoyed it and I watched how he was doing at Huddersfield and here also.

“I am really excited to be reunited at Birmingham.

“I am just buzzing to be here and can’t wait to get started.

“I will watch Burnley in the Premier League and wish them all the best.

“But I am excited by coming here, I can’t wait to get started. I am a Birmingham City player now.

“The manager is getting players in he admires so I am just delighted to be one of them.”
