And (just like Newcastle) West Ham are ready to offer Kieron Dyer a new contract despite him spending 90% of his time at Upton Park on the treatment table.

The 31-year-old midfielder, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, has started the last two Premier League games for Avram Grant's men.

And co-owner David Gold has admitted the club would be ready to offer him fresh terms if he can stay clear of the treatment room.

Gold said: "If he plays two thirds of the games this season, why wouldn't we want him to stay at the club for the rest of his career?

"A new contract is certainly something we would look into."
