Duff misses the friendly with Holland because of a groin injury. But apparently it is only a precautionary step.
Staunton: "Damien is going back to Newcastle, it is precautionary and not worth taking a chance, especially when Germany is only two and a half weeks away.
"He just feels a wee bit of tightness in the groin and it is not worth the risk."
Newcastle winger Alan O' Brien has also tweaked his back as he gets his first taste of international football. But the Dublin-born player remains in the camp.
