Newcastle United have secured the services of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka until 2025 after penning a six-year deal, as reported by the club’s official website.

It follows on from his agent spreading the rumours that the goalkeeper could be looking to a "big club" to win honours.

The 30-year-old has become a vital part of the Magpies squad, originally arriving at St James’ Park on a loan deal.

Dubravka made the temporary move to Newcastle in January 2018, going on to keep four clean sheets from his 12 appearances.

The following season the Slovakian shot-stopper made a permanent move from Sparta Prague, joining the Magpies for £4.3m.

Last year Dubravka played a pivotal role in keeping Newcastle in the Premier League, with his performances raising his profile within the club and leading to interest from elsewhere.

In his 59 top flight appearances so far, the Slovakian has kept 17 clean sheets, which has forced the Magpies to tie their prized asset down to a six-year deal.

“It is an amazing feeling,” Dubravka told NUFC TV.

“I have to say that it feels like time has flown. It’s been almost two years and I’ve found great people here who I can call friends.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’m very glad that I can stay here for another six years.”
