Danny Simpson: “The fans are important to us, and we need them even more now.
“We’re still joint top. There’s a couple of teams playing each other and if we get three points against Doncaster, we can get a bit of a lead again.
“Even after the game at Scunthorpe the fans were still clapping us off the pitch.
“It’s nice the fans still support you.
“We know they’re disappointed and for them to support you is what you want.
“You want them to still be backing you because it’s a tough league.
“They’re going to be massively important this season and we know they’ll be right behind us against Doncaster.
“Steven Taylor and Coloccini have been out, and I’ve been asked to do a job for the team.
“All I can do is try my best. I’m a natural full-back, but I can do a job there if needed.
“I was needed, but it didn’t pay off against Scunthorpe.
“All I can do is keep trying my best for the team, and hope it pays off.
“It was disappointing for me – I don’t like losing, especially two in a row. It’s not a nice feeling.
“I’m trying my best at centre-back, and when you don’t win it’s disappointing.
“In the first half we looked comfortable. They had chances, but nothing really major, and when it went to 1-1, we thought we were going to win.
“The lads are disappointed, and I’m devastated, but we’ve got to move on.”
