According to reports in today's Sunday rags, Ba is on a collision course with Newcastle United after demanding wages of £90,000 a week.

The striker (officially) came to Newcastle on a free transfer from West Ham United, but reports suggest he picked up a "one off payment" of £4m.

And now he is currently on a contract on £40,000 a week, something a lot of clubs across Europe are prepared to top.

Turkish giants Galatasary claim they can give him the wages of £90,000 a week he is asking - and due to their lower tax laws - he would get a lot more than if he stayed in Britain.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has imposed a strict wage ceiling at St James’ Park and he insists he won't budge on it.

Apparently the club have indicated to Ba’s advisers that they are prepared to increase his weekly earnings by only £10,000, and Ba (who hasn't seemed happy all season) looks to ready to move on.

It all seems bizarre considering poor Danny Simpson has been offered a deal of £10,000, with Ashley demanding "take it or leave it!"

It seems increasingly likely that the 27-year-old, who also has a £7 million transfer clause in his contract, will move on – possibly to Liverpool.

Ashley has been staggered by Ba’s ultimatum and have become increasingly frustrated by the actions of his advisors.

At the start of the season Alan Pardew had to give a "guarantee" to Ba's agent that the striker would play in the centre of the strike partnership, and many were staggered when the Toon boss agreed to it!

Pardew said in August: "Demba will play 95% of the games as centre-forward".

According to reports from St James' Park today, Ashley will stand firm over the latest contract negotiations, even if it means losing the striker.
