The priest allegedly said: "Come forth Kenny".

Dalglish replied: "Come fourth! We'll be lucky to finish TENTH!"

On a serious note ... although Dalglish will keep to his schedule of assessing the Reds' season once the Premier League is over, it seems people in America have already decided his future.

With the Merseyside outfit anchored in mid-table, their final two matches - against Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday and at Swansea next Sunday - will have nothing at stake but pride.

Dalglish says there will be no summit meeting with owner John Henry to discuss a season which has brought some silverware in the Carling Cup, but got them no nearer breaking back into the Premier League's elite.

Dalglish: "The owners will do the same as us.

"They will sit and analyse the season when it is finished.

"That is what we said before a ball was kicked and there is no reason to change that."

But rumour on Merseyside claim Liverpool's fixture in Wales on Sunday will be the manager's last.
