Hector Cuper’s side had faced the prospect of going into the must win clash without a recognised striker with Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba suspended, Mohammed Kallon injured and Gabriel Batistuta ineligible.

The prolific Argentinian forward has been out with a calf injury since January 12 but has declared himself fit for the must win game on Wednesday night.

Cuper must now decide whether to partner him with Turkish midfielder Emre or to play Nigerian youngster Obafemi Martins or the untested Mattia Altobelli, son of Italian World Cup star Alessandro.
