Celtic - The Elephant's Graveyard For Toon Stars?

Like Fraser Forster, Newcastle United striker Leon Best hoped for some interest from a Premiership club this transfer window ... but (with Euro 2012 taking up everyone's time) there has not been a sniff.

The Magpies previously tried to release him in January to Celtic but the 25-year-old refused to leave.

The Republic of Ireland striker has been told his services are not required at St James' Park, and he will depart at a reduced £2m fee.

Newcastle originally paid Coventry City £1.5m for Best in 2010 and he was very slow to get off the mark.

Never really a crowd favourite, until he had a purple patch that started with a hat-trick against West Ham.

But Alan Pardew has "bigger fish to fry" these days, and I'm sure we will bring in another striker this summer.

Will he go to Celtic?

Who cares?
