Cardiff v WBA FA Cup Final? Good or Bad?

Last updated : 11 March 2008 By Footy Mad - Editor
Nobody (with any brain cells) would have predicted at the start of the campaign an FA Cup final featuring Cardiff City or Barnsley.

But that is going to be reality. We may have laughed as the big boys fell one-by-one, but now for the biggest day of the season we will be watching Barnsley or Cardiff against Pompey or West Brom.

Now then ... is that a refreshing change ... or could we do without it?

You tell us on our message board.

Meanwhile ...

Cardiff manager Dave Jones: "It would have been nice to play Barnsley in the final, but we'll have to do combat in the semi. It will be a tough game, but we have a chance and I'm sure Simon will be saying exactly the same

"We'll have watched each other many, many times and probably won't have had to watch each other from now until we play because everyone in our division knows each other inside out.

"We'll all be confident. Barnsley will be because of who they've beaten in the last two rounds and we must be because of the way we played."

Barnsley manager Simon Davey: "I guess I will get a bit of stick from the Cardiff lot with me being a Swansea lad and having played for the club but at least that is one city that will be right behind us.

"Any draw in the semi-final of the FA Cup would be a good one and we did not care who we got. I think Luke Steele will be happy because it means he will be able to play.

"We've got to be confident after beating Liverpool and Chelsea. There's light at the end of the tunnel for both teams and we fancy our chances - we're 90 minutes away from an FA Cup final."

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp: "Obviously we are favourites as the only Premier League side left in the competition but results show that counts for nothing.

"West Brom are a good side who look to play football and they'll be very tough opposition for us. We weren't really concerned how were drawn against because all the sides left deserve their place."

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray: "Harry has built a powerful side who are enjoying a terrific season - we're very respectful o the talent they posses.

"But we've earned the right to play this game and we're looking forward to the challenge."
