Capello Had To Have Talks With The FA To Select Carroll!

Andy Carroll: “It’s great for me but not just me for my family and my team-mates and all of the staff at Newcastle United.”

Capello has defended his decision to select Carroll by arguing that the player will benefit from the influence of England’s senior players.

The Football Association has told Capello it has no issue with Carroll, 21, being selected, even though he has been fined for admitting assaulting a man in a nightclub, is on bail for an alleged assault on a former girlfriend and last weekend made the front pages of a tabloid newspaper for allegedly going on an all-night drinking bout.

Capello: “I hope he will change.

“We have to help him. It will be important for him to stay with the seniors, with famous players and to learn something about these leaders.

“I spoke with the FA and they have told me I can pick him.

“He is a really interesting player. He is good in the air. He finds space. Technically he is good. He is a fighter.”
