Can Keegan Get One Over On Redknapp?

However ... let's not throw the dummy out the pram ... and get down to the business of transfers.

Keegan had his interest in Liverpool striker Peter Crouch knocked back because the player insisted he had a future at Anfield (or wherever the Reds intend playing, because work on their new £350m stadium is to begin soon).

But now Crouch has a price on his head, Redknapp says the England international is 'too expensive'.

Will Keegan get one over on the man who stubbed the Toon and PROVE we are a bigger club than the "Rum, bum and backy" bigade down on the South coast?

Redknapp is keen to bring Crouch back to Fratton Park to form a partnership with Pompey's current record signing Jermain Defoe.

Reports on the South Coast claim that a club record bid of £9million for Crouch has been turned down by Liverpool.

Redknapp: "I'd love to bring Crouchie back here.

"We are trying to do deals to bring in players and (chief executive) Peter Storrie is working on trying to get things done.

"But the fee seems a bit too high, and at the end of the day it comes down to the price.

"It seems like things are getting a bit too expensive.

"Crouchie is a player who is on our list, but if nothing can be done then we will just move on to the next player."
