Sebastian Larsson earned 10-man Birmingham an FA Cup third-round replay with a late equaliser against Glenn Roeder's injury-ravaged Newcastle at St Andrews.The on-loan Arsenal player, who is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Birmingham, hooked the ball home from close range with just four minutes remaining.
Blues had been reduced to 10 men when defender Radhi Jaidi was sent off shortly before half-time for a professional foul.
And goals from Steven Taylor and Kieron Dyer - his third in five games - looked to have earned Newcastle victory after they had recovered from an early strike by Dudley Campbell before Larsson struck.
Roeder will be delighted with the performance of his inexperienced side - they finished with five academy players on the pitch - after being without the services of 14 senior players through injury and the suspended Scott Parker.

Shay Given broke Birmingham's hearts and condemned them to life in the Coca-Cola Championship after four years in the top flight.The Newcastle goalkeeper made a stunning double save from Mikael Forssell and Emile Heskey on the stroke of full-time when a goal would have set up a final day showdown at Bolton.
Instead Birmingham had to settle for a point and that was not enough with Portsmouth winning at Wigan.
The result probably does not do Newcastle many favours either considering their hopes of a UEFA Cup place.
But at least they welcomed Michael Owen back and he enjoyed a 28 minute run-out.
Owen had missed 21 league and cup games in the process and there were fears he might not play again until next season.

Nicky Butt preserved Newcastle's unbeaten record under new manager Graeme Souness with a stunning equaliser in a pulsating Premiership clash at St Andrews.Blues defender Matthew Upson's first ever league goal looked to have earned Steve Bruce's side only their second win of the campaign when he put them ahead after 57 minutes.
But Butt, who will have a key role to play for England against Wales in next week's World Cup qualifier, struck a superb half volley from 15 yards out which flew past Blues 'keeper Maik Taylor.
A draw was a fair result over the 90 minutes and Birmingham were inspired by a fine performance from David Dunn in his first start of the season after recovering from his hamstring problems.
But he declined to shake hands with Souness when he was substituted after 80 minutes following the pair's much publicised fall-out at Blackburn.
Newcastle demonstrated that their revival under Souness has been no fluke and they look as if they will be challenging strongly for a ChampionsLeague spot.
