Bowyer Top Of The Pops (Well ... Sort Of!)

To be honest, I struggle to give this poll any recognition simply because they only questioned 2,000 fans. We get more on this site every HOUR! But to continue with the story - Bowyer has landed the Most Hated title in a survey by YouGov. ("Who?" I hear you say!)

Bowyer has always had a bad-boy reputation. In 1996 he was convicted of assaulting an employee of McDonald's and fined £4,500. During his Leeds United days he was involved in a lengthy court case after student Safraz Najeib was attacked outside a nightclub, but Bowyer was cleared of assault. Bowyer subsequently paid the Najeib family £170,000 in an out-of-court settlement after they started civil proceedings against him.

In April last year, the former Charlton Athletic player was red-carded at St James' Park for an on-the-pitch incident with teammate Kieron Dyer.

Ex-Toon strikers Craig Bellamy and Duncan Ferguson have both made the list. So ... is this a Mackem poll, or what?
