Bellamy update

The Welsh striker pulled up in training last week complaining of pain in the knee that was operated on last May and missed the game with Charlton as a result.

Following consultations with the club medical staff it has been decided that Bellamy will fly to Colarado on Monday to see Dr Richard Steadman – the surgeon who saved both Alan Shearer’s and Ronaldo’s careers.

It is not yet known whether or not he will require further surgery to cure the tendinitis problem, but the fact that the problem has re-occurred so soon after his operation is not a good sign.

It could well be good news for starlet Michael Chopra though, who must surely get his chance in the next few weeks.
