The Sunday Mirror says intermediaries acting for the wealthy Indian have already begun preparatory work for a deal and have visited Tyneside.

But the prospective buyer won’t put his bid on the table until Magpies Premier League status is mathematically secured.

Ashley paid £134m for the club in 2007 and with another £111m personally owed to him it would take a minimum bid of £200m-plus to even interest him.

However the club insists they are not in talks with Indian tycoon Anil Ambani over the possible sale of the club.

Ambani is chief of Reliance ADA group but Newcastle have distanced themselves from any such takeover talk.

A United source told the Chronicle: "There are no truth in these reports.

"It's all news to anybody here."

We all know Ashley LIVES for money, and any bid over £200m would be snapped up without hesitation.

But what concerns supporters is the promise that the £35m picked up in the Andy Carroll transfer to Liverpool will be given to Alan Pardew to spend on players.

I don't think there is a supporter on Tyneside who believes a word Ashley says, and if the sale DOES go ahead, you can better your bottom dollar the £35m will end up in Ashlet's arse pocket when he walks out of the door.
